This is our first week back at school. The kids and I are ready for a return to routine. Although it feels good to be back at school, the transition from summer life to school is inevitably bumpy. Slowly, the cobwebs are clearing from our minds and enthusiasm for a new school year is growing.
I can't believe this is our 7th year of homeschooling! It certainly doesn't feel like we've been at it for so many years. When Nathan was entering 2nd grade we decided to homeschool him. Although we had many reasons for doing so, one of them was to prepare our family for the transition to the mission field. I am so grateful that we had those years of homeschooling in Canada as I wouldn't want the added stress of learning to teach our kids now. Our visa status does not allow our children to attend school in the states and our school board in Canada has agreed to support us while we are away.
This year we are trying a 4 week rotation with a 1 week break. I have the habit of wanting to push right through until we are finished and need to learn to relax a bit more. The scheduled time off will allow us the flexibility to take time off when guests come to visit.
