Answers to a Boy's Prayers

Today was the day that the boys got to visit the orphanage to play with the kids. Rachel has two planned visits a week, so they were so pleased for this day to come.

Last week when we visited for lunch, the boys connected with a 7 yr. old boy named Angel "Anhel". I guess he doesn't have much opportunity for interactions with other boys and rarely talks about liking other kids. The staff let us know that Angel was quite talkative about Nathan and Noah. The boys too were keen to play with him, but Nathan's heart was set on playing with the twins, Angelo "Anhelo" and Joseus "Hoseus" (pictured again, here). We told Nathan that he had to be open to doing what the staff wanted and that he had to give his desires to the Lord and not push his own will.

Nathan felt quite certain that the Lord wanted him to connect with the twins. We encouraged Nathan to pray about it and to allow the Lord to direct his time there. Much to Nathan's delight, Doris asked the boys if they wanted to play in the little pool. The twins were in there. After a few minutes, Nathan found himself alone with the twins. He spent the afternoon playing with them. He created little water games that utilized his limited spanish. The formerly shy boys burst with enthusiasm. I'm not sure whose smile was bigger, theirs or Nathan's.

It was such a blessing to see the Lord confirm to Nathan what He had put in his heart. Nathan is a pretty serious kid, but we have never heard him talk like this about his walk with the Lord. I count this day among my favourite so far.
