I'll choose door #........the only one that's open

The Lord has been teaching us a lot about listening and obeying His voice. We have found that the Lord has given us a little insight into what He wants us to do, but never enough that we feel confident to run ahead. That is good training for us as He is confirming to us that we are listening, and that He IS faithful to guide us step by step in this process of "going".

For the past year and a half we have felt He wanted us to "train and equip indigenous people in basic medicine so they can use that as tool for fulfilling the Great Commission." That was clear to us, but not the "HOW". Attending the Global Medical Missions Conference this past November we prayed for "divine collisions" to help clarify our call. Out of the myriad of possibilities the Lord made it clear by giving us only one open door. We were blessed to meet Steve Saint (son of Nate Saint) and we believe the Lord wants us to partner with Steve and the ministry of I-TEC (Indigenous Peoples Technology and Education Centre) to start a medical training program for indigenous people (building on the dental training program that I-TEC started in 2004).

We are continuing to seek the Lord about how this will look. Please pray for us as we sense the Lord is in this and desire to follow Him. Neither of us are qualified in this type of medicine, but the call is clear. We need HIS equipping!

If you would like to read more about Steve Saint and the Waodoni people he lived with and the people who inspired him to start I-TEC, his book End of the Spear is excellent. As well, you can watch the movie End of the Spear (available at Blockbuster) or the documentary Beyond the Gates of Splendor. The story has touched our lives and challenged us to follow Jesus wholeheartedly.
