Going on a Bug Hunt

This week Rachel discovered some little beasties in her bed. We think they might be bed bugs! I thought that was something we only teased our kids about when they went to bed. I guess not! Evan, the scientest in the family, brought out the microscope to take a look. It was fun to watch Evan and the kids tape the little critter down and scrutinize it. What really impressed me was the fact right after looking through the microscope, Rachel hopped into bed and went to sleep. Don't worry..we are taking measures to prevent them from becoming permanent residence in our apartment.

We are learning to live with many more bugs than in Calgary. Nathan has started to shake out his blankets before going to bed. He regularly rids his bed of 8-legged beasties. Still he finds new spider bites in the morning. Recently a friend at the Bible College was bit by a Chilean brown recluse spider. Not something we want to experience ourselves. I guess this is just mild preparation for the time we will spend in the jungle.

This is also an opportunity to say goodbye to another Calgary Flames hockey season. Nathan was especially sad to watch the Flames lose game 7 of the series. For the final game of the series some dear friends from Calgary (who will remain nameless because we suspect what we did might be illegal!) set up their computer to send the game live to us via skype. What fun we had cheering together! It was a great way to end the hockey season. For Nathan it beat sitting by the computer and listening on Fan 960 via the internet.

We continue to stay busy with our language classes. This week Evan and I have noticed a big change in our ability to understand what people are saying. That sure helps us feel a part of the community here. Thank you so much for praying. We appreciate it. Learning Spanish is a big challenge and we are blessed by your prayers.

So so sorry you have bed bugs too!! That's um, not fun, to say the least. Hope you don't have too difficult a time getting rid of them!
