Teaching and Learning (Enseñando y Aprendiendo)

This week Evan and I are teaching a basic medical course at the CC Bible College. The 4-day class touches on the philosphy of medicine in missions, basic microbiology and how to cope with common medical problems on the mission field. Today Evan taught about bugs~ the good, the bad and the ugly. Tomorrow we will focus on how to prevent and treat diarrhea, vomiting, fever and snake bite. We enjoy the opportunity to interact with the students and have fun teaching the classes.

Irma & usEvery weekday Evan and I study Spanish with our teacher, Irma. She is an excellent teacher and we are steadily improving. She teaches in a logical and methodical manner which helps us understand and not just memorize the language. Learning a new language as adults is quite a challenge. We are grateful for the opportunity to focus on language learning now because we have heard it is difficult to do so later on. Today we learned about the pluscuamperfecto de indicativo tense. Try saying that 5 times!!

Thanks for your prayers and encouraging emails. We appreciate all of the support and love. Thanks for those of you who prayed about our residency visas. Nathan, Noah and Rachel's paperwork was accepted this past week! That is a huge answer to prayer.

Making alfajoresMarie Elena helped the kids make alfajores on Friday. Alfajores are a peruvian cookie filled with manjar blanco and sprinkled with icing sugar. As they say in Spanish- "¡Qué Rico!" They were devoured in minutes!
