Leaving a Part of Our Hearts in Lima

Pastor John and Pilar Bonner with Heather and Evan When we left Canada to move to Peru (a year ago tomorrow) we thought we were there to stay for at least a few years. We did not know that a move to Florida was ahead of us, nor a future move to Ecuador. Just days ago, we packed our bags in Peru and said our good-byes. Not knowing our future steps made saying good-bye to those we have come to know and love in Peru all that more difficult. We see evidence that God is leading us to Ecuador. It is a step of faith to pack our things and leave Peru while things in Ecuador are not confirmed. We know that ultimately God is in control and that when we submit our lives to Him we can trust Him to guide us. He has the master plan and we trust Him to go before us, preparing the way. This is His work and we trust Him to work in and through us for His purpose.

Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the plans I have for you, "declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." Ephesians 2:10 says "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.". Psalm 119:105 says "Thy Word is the lamp unto my feet and the light unto my path."

Lukas, Josias, AngeloAlthough we know these verses to be true, we have often felt like we were following Him with just the light on our very footsteps, and not much ahead. We know He is leading us, but we don't know what tomorrow looks like. God gives us just enough evidence that we are in His will. As we like to say..."His fingerprints are all over this."

Doris with one of the triplets Please pray that we will hear from the Lord and have the courage to follow Him.

Here are pictures of some of the friends at the orphanage our children visited weekly. It is so hard to say good-bye to them. Along with Doris ("mom" of the 13 children at the orphanage), we dreamed of our children growing up together as friends. Our friendship will not end, but the weekly visits will. We will continue to pray for Doris and the children and look for opportunities to support her in the ministry God has given her.
