Friends and Adventure

The team from Itec as they prepared to leave to Ecuador Evan is currently in Shell Mera, Ecuador helping to teach the first training session at the training centre. There is no internet coverage at the camp so I haven't heard much back, but Evan did email to say the sessions are going well. He has 5 tribal students in his class. They are very eager to learn and want to go far beyond the curriculum he has set. That is encouraging to Evan. He is using this time to test the medical training curriculum and video he has helped to create. I am certain he will have a list of ideas to help improve it. Although testing a new curriculum is stressful, it is a necessary step to move things forward.

The team is providing training in dentistry, medicine, optometry and mechanics. Please pray for their health and safety as they work in the jungle. As well, pray for them as they attempt to teach difficult concepts in a way that will equip their students. Evan is using this time to assess whether it is time for our family to move to Ecuador. We appreciate your prayers concerning this move.

Daniel, Noah, Nathan, Brooklyn and RachelThe children and I were blessed with a visit from friends from home. Doug and Cherie Thorne and their children invited us to spend a few day of their vacation with them in Orlando. What fun it was to be with old friends!! Doug and Cherie live in our house in Calgary and have been such a blessing to our family. There is a special bond between our families as they have truly walked beside us through this adventure. After being away for over a year there is something really special about being with people who know you so well and love you. There was lots of late night talks, fun and laughter. We'll miss them.
