I and the rest of the group from the USA that traveled to Ecuador for the training session have all returned home safely. Teaching went well, and the students were great. Many of the students made an enormous effort to attend the session traveling hours, sometimes days, by foot and bus to get there. Their commitment to learn and serve was strong motivation for me to offer as much as possible during our time together. Although I had a translator for the first two days of class, I was on my own for the rest of the time to teach in Spanish. It was great to have students who were so patient (while I used a dictionary) and helpful when I didn't have the vocabulary to say what I wanted to say. Even so, I have to say that without God it would not have been possible.
In our clinical sessions it was amazing to see the students using their newly learned skills in such a compassionate and joyful way, allowing God's love to be shown through them. At the end of the week the students were both eager to return to their communities to serve in a new or expanded way, as well as looking forward to future training sessions to come.
Here is a small set of pictures from the week. Once I have more from the other classes I will put up some more. Thank you for your prayers and checking in on what is happening.
