Day to Day in Lima...College Life

We have had requests for photos of where we are staying. We are staying at the Calvary Chapel Bible College in Lima. As you can see from the photos, the college campus is used by MANY people. There is rarely a quiet moment here.

First, the friends... Rachel has made friends with Grace, the daughter of the college director. Grace lives on campus in an apartment with her family. They play for hours each day. Rachel has also made fast friends with Anika, the niece of one of the staff. Anika does not speak English, so she is teaching Rachel some Spanish. Somehow kids don't need to speak the same language to get along.

Noah and Nathan are currently playing basket ball in the courtyard. This is just outside our balcony. It is so nice that they can play within earshot. They have picked up some spanish basketball lingo. This morning they played soccer with the college guys. They were hot, sweaty boys when they returned home.


Noah's newest interest is Etcha Sketch. He spends hours drawing house plans. They are actually pretty realistic. I'll see if we can post a photo of one soon. The college students also enjoy trying to draw on it.

Evan taught class numero dos today. It went very well. The students are very keen to learn some practical knowledge to assist them when they work in the mission field. They have many questions and we are doing our best to answer them. Todays class was on Basic Microbiology. Evan explained why disease occurs, the differences between viral, bacterial, parasitic and fungal infections and why it matters for prevention and treatment. They LOVED the tapeworm story...you'll have to email us if you don't know that one!


I have included photos of the apartment that we are staying in. It is working well for our family. The kids share a (dormitorio) bedroom and Evan and I have a tiny room to ourselves. This, plus a bathroom, makes up the top floor. The mainfloor includes a cocina (kitchen), bano (bathroom), oficina (desk/office), and sala (living room). All of that fits into about 600 square feet.












The total college campus size is about two city lots. There are 40 people who live on campus and many more who work here or utilize it throughout the week. Today there were 2 large short term mission groups who arrived from CC Corvallis and San Diego. You could hardly hear yourself think! They are here for Surf Camp and for trips to Cajamarca, and Iquitos.

Every weeknight the Spanish Bible College meets in the couryard for classes. I included a photo of Mateo teaching. As well, the youth group meets here, worship teams practice here, English College holds its classes and I don't know what else!
