This week we have had a visitor from Arequipa, Peru. Pedro has recently joined the IMED team as an animator and artist. He has much experience in this area and adds a lot to the team. Evan and Pedro have spent their time learning the software required for the IMED project. It has been useful to be on the same site working as there is the potential for problems since Pedro only speaks spanish and ours is limited. The face to face contact sure helps.
What is I-Med? I-Med is a medical training program especially designed for those who live "where there is no doctor." It is a tool that will be used to train leaders in the indigenous church to care for the "felt needs" of those in their community and reach their communities with the love of Jesus. I-Tec (http://www.itecusa.org/), the organization we are working with, is modelling this program after its I-Dent Dental training program that is being used in Africa, Asia and South America.
We have enjoyed having Pedro here. He loves the Lord and is willing to serve. He is also a great story teller and loves to share of his experiences. We are grateful that he loves to talk as our speaking skills aren't quite where our listening skills are. It has been a blessing having Pedro here.
The headquarters for I-Tec is in Florida, so that makes communication a bit of a challenge. Although the connection wasn't perfect, we were able to have a skype video conference with Steve Saint and Troy Townsend from I-Tec. Incredible how we can collaborate with people all over the world with a couple of computers and a realiable internet connection.
Our plan is to be in Canada for the next 4 weeks. This week is especially busy as we are preparing to leave and hosting Pedro. It is an exiting time. We'll keep you updated with photos from our whirlwind trip. We covet your prayers during the time we are in Canada.
Come along with us!
This is the chronicle of our journey in faith and service that started in Peru. Explore our previous trip, and keep up to date with what is happening now as we work with ITEC in Florida, and with national believers in South America as well as other parts of the world. We'd love to hear from you - so comment on the postings, or send us an email!
